Many visitors to Urakawa have specific dietary requirements, whether for health, religious or personal reasons. The Urakawa Vegetarian Cuisine Association (Ura-vegi) was created in 2019 by volunteers from restaurants in Urakawa to allow these people to enjoy the town’s cuisine.

Ura-vegi seeks to provide a more inclusive and enjoyable experiences for everyone, regardless of their dietary requirements and is working to promote and facilitate greater provision of vegetarian dishes in future. At present, there are currently three restaurants in Urakawa that offer vegetarian dishes:
